Charming, private Chalet Home with lovely views all year
long! Trees, grasses, ferns, shrubs, stone walls, and landscaped gardens
surround this little hidden gem. Tucked away on what we call “Dragonfly
Knoll”, you are away from it all… yet, within minutes, you can be at the
local parks, theaters, and shopping centers.
Beginning
at the first entrance of the circular drive you are greeted by natural
wooded area with Spring on the left. The spring runs all year. Long-ago
owner piped the water to flow into an old claw foot tub. The water was
recently tested from the Spring and is great drinking water! On the right
side of the drive, across from the Spring area you will see wooded area
leading to a fenced in area and barn. This was a former horse farm and has
many possibilities. The barn features 5 stalls and tack area plus a
garage/storage area.
Across
from the barn on the left of the drive is a tiered garden area which leads
to lawn area. This area is great for entertaining cook-out gatherings and
would suffice for setting up tents for camp-outs. We currently have a cook
area/bonfire camp area with trampoline and volleyball/badminton area.
Further up the drive, just past the barn, also on the right side is a
3-car garage and work shop. The work shop area also houses a garage door
if more storage needed for car, truck, tractor, etc. The work shop is
heated with Propane Heater. This is a excellent space if you entertain the
thought of having an “at home business”. Could be easily converted to work
area(s), office space and etc.
Continuing
on the drive you come to the quaint chalet house with lovely gardens
around. The main entrance to the home is at the back, level with parking.
Large stones from stone walls for stepping stones lead to the deck. The
house measures House 28' wide x 32' deep; two stories and a full basement.
Deer and Turkey roam the property. If you continue on the circular drive,
you may catch a glimpse of one of these lovely creatures peeking at you.
The drive leads down the property again to Jackson Rd. Just before
reaching the mailbox, on the left you will see a flat area now growing
with vegetation which was a former training area for horses. And across
the road (of which you have great views of on both first and second floor
balconies) is the Town Park’s Pond. Convenient and great fishing at the
pond… with a very nice hiking trail around the pond. Also the town park is
within walking distance if you or children like to play/watch baseball and
etc… with great sledding in the winter at the park… or on your own hill
here on the property.
Entering the house from main entrance, ground-level deck: You enter the “Mud
Room/Laundry Room” featuring sink, storage area, coat rack, Whirlpool
Washer and Westinghouse Heavy Duty Dryer (included with sale of the
house.) There is plenty of room for building more storage area or shelving
if needed. Also, washer and dryer can conveniently be moved to basement to
allow for different room/space altogether. Floor in laundry area and hall
is tile.
Leaving the Laundry Area and entering the hall:
On the left is the First Floor Bath
with shower. Floor is linoleum; accents of wood for medicine cabinet and
vanity.
On your right is the First Floor Bedroom
with wall to wall carpet. Closet is unfinished; large double size closet
space. We have left it an open space for easy and accessible storage for
our teen. :) This room measures…..
Continuing down the hall, the entrance to the Kitchen is to the left and
straight ahead is entrance to the Dining and Living Room Areas.
Kitchen: The kitchen is small but quite
sufficient. In our former, southern Victorian home, we had a large kitchen
with pantry… this was quite different! But the builder of our chalet has
given enough storage cabinets and counter space to be quite adequate for
us. We do prepare and cook our meals here (no fast foods or frozen
dinners) – and although at first glance the area is small, we have been
most satisfied with the space.
The kitchen features Wood Cabinets and Drawers throughout; an Andersen
Double Hung Window over the double sink; spacious counter top; GE Side by
Side Fridge/Freezer; and Frigidaire Electric Stove/Oven. (appliances
included with sale of house.)
Dining Area: Features Two Double Hung
Andersen Windows; Wood Trim and Many paned glass door and glass storm door
which leads to spacious balcony with wonderful views. Floor is laminate
wood flooring.
Dining Area joins the Living Room where you
are greeted by a large four paned Bay Window allowing you great views all
year long. Also there are two more Double Hung Andersen Windows in here –
great natural light all day! Hard wood floors and Wood Trim accent the
living room. Throughout the house is extraordinary decorative ceiling work
--- most noticeable here in the living room – sometimes the light catches
it and you will see swirls and other times maybe geo designs. One of our
favorites of our chalet!
Wood stairs lead to the upstairs bedrooms and baths. As in all hand-built
homes, wood stairs a bit squeaky at times. Easy – open access to these
stairs are from below in basement stairway; with a bit of carpentry
tacking here and there, squeaks are easily gone.
The Bedroom on left of landing on
the steps with flooring of wall-to-wall carpet, wood trim and two Andersen
Double Hung Windows. The closet area is unfinished.
Flooring in 2nd floor landing is wood laminate tile.
Second Floor Bath – Full bath
featuring tub/shower and wood accented medicine cabinet and vanity.
Flooring is linoleum.
Bedroom #1 at front of house on 2nd
floor has wall to wall carpet; Walk-in Closet and features patio double
glass window and door; sliding screen patio door leading to the second
floor balcony for wonderful early morning coffee/tea as you watch the
geese fly onto the pond or the Great Blue Herons guarding their nesting
area.
Walk-In Closet has door for extra storage in the attic area.
Basement Area is unfinished.
Carpeted steps lead down. Wood Stove Furnace; Wood Storage Bin, Wood and
Metal Shelving Units for extra storage; Propane Heater and Hot Water
Heater (electric) area housed in the basement along with our office space
for our Mail Order/Internet Business.
